Cylinder housing: The cylinder block's most important function is to house the engine's cylinders, where combustion occurs, within frames of precise dimensions. During engine operation, each cylinder contains a piston that moves up and down. The cylinder block serves as a base that supports the cylinders, ensuring they are properly aligned with the combustion lid. This precise alignment is crucial for the smooth movement of pistons within the cylinders.
